President of JD-MIAMI,

Studied structure engineering in Cuba for four years and had the opportunity to visit several constructions sites where he discovered his passion for building and his ability to perform when facing difficult engineering solutions.

 

Yoel, a very enthusiast young boy was able to escape from the Cuba communist to Haiti in 2005. Then, he moved to Dominican Republic and started looking for a job. After a month living in DR, he was able to continue his journey by taking a very small boat to La Mona Island located few miles from Puerto Rico. There he was picked up by the U.S. Coast Guard and few weeks later arrived in Miami, Florida at the age of 21. 

 

Initially, Yoel worked for several local architects and interior designers as a drafter. While attending Miami Dade College early in the morning every day to learn English and working late at night including weekends, he rapidly got involved with the Florida Building Code, Construction Standards Regulations, Construction Systems and Permitting Process. After graduating from Miami Dade College, he when to ITT Technical Institute and in only two years received his degree in the Drafting and Design program. This step consolidated his vision in the Design-Build field and founded JD Engineering & Construction, Corp, dba JD-MIAMI in January 2010.

 

The company’s initial services were Construction Management, Project Administration, General Supervision, and Inspections. After 5 years of experience in the field, Yoel became a State Certified General Contractor and State Certified Pool Contractor and together with his engineering, drafting and design skills jumped into the construction of multimillion dollar custom house market. Today, the company designs and builds an average of three houses to four houses every year and plans to slowly grow without compromising the quality of its final product.
